The US’s unified Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM) – which combines the US Air Force’s Air Mobility Command (AMC), the US Navy’s Sealift Command, and the US Army’s Surface Deployment and Distribution Command – has made impressive logistical gains over the past year to supply the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) and backfill NATO countries supplying arms and equipment since Russia’s full-scale invasion began 15 months ago.

The joint military leadership in the US recently published updates to the amount of materiel and personnel delivered to support allies and partners in Europe – by air, sea and land.
USTRANSCOM deliveries as of May 15
Scrutiny of the two graphics, which shows cumulative figures, shows that in May alone the US government delivered the following key equipment:
· 6.1 million artillery rounds
· 13,247 anti-tank guided weapons
· 624 anti-aircraft missiles
· 2 radar systems
· 1.3 million rounds of small arms ammunition

General Jacqueline Van Ovost, the USTRANSCOM Commander on her Twitter account on May 15 said: “The speed we are moving and level of aid we are providing is unprecedented.

“It goes to show that when we come together with our Allies and partners, we can move out and meet the promises - that together, we will deliver.”
The total figures of military aid delivered to Ukraine are truly amazing, particularly when considered over an even longer-term period and we understand how quickly USTRANSCOM ramped up deliveries. This is summarized in this graphic from May 2022:
USTRANSCOM’s pride in its achievements is obvious and well-earned. As it says on its own website:
“TRANSCOM’s vital contribution to national security is evident in the command’s ongoing support to Ukraine and the European Command effort in support of our NATO allies. The Joint Deployment and Distribution Enterprise’s agility and responsiveness allows for the rapid deployment of troops and equipment to the EUCOM theater as an assure and deter effort, as well as the delivery of security assistance to Ukraine.
“TRANSCOM continues to deliver aid and hope to the Ukrainian people on an expedited basis. This aid includes anti-tank systems, air defense missiles, unmanned aerial systems, artillery rounds, ammo, protective equipment (body armor and helmets) and other equipment essential to Ukraine’s front-line defenders.”
