President Zelensky has declared that Ukraine will bring an end to Moscow’s history of despotism which has “been bringing enslavement to many different peoples for a very long time.”

Speaking in an address to mark Kyiv Day on Sunday, he highlighted the massive Russian attack against the capital the previous night which saw 54 kamikaze drones target the capital.

While most were successfully shot down, a few managed to cause damage in the Zhytomyr region.

“Nevertheless, we were able to prevent most of the destruction and save numerous lives that could have been lost to these Shaheds,” Zelensky said.

“I am grateful to each and every person who contributed to this achievement! The Anti-Aircraft Missile Troops, Air Force aviation, Ground Forces’ air defense, and our mobile fire groups... Thank you, warriors!” he added.
