U.S. President Joe Biden issued a memorandum on the allocation of $550 million to Ukraine as a new defense aid package on August 1.
“The new military aid package from the U.S. is another investment in the security of NATO’s eastern flank and support for democracy in the European Union (EU). Our artillerymen are ready to turn night into day to expel the Russian invaders from Ukraine,” reported Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov.

“Thank you to the President of the United States and the head of the Pentagon for your leadership and to all American citizens!” added Reznikov.
In addition, the head of the Defense Ministry of Ukraine also emphasized that the new package of military aid to Ukraine from the U.S. is another investment in the security of NATO’s eastern flank and the support of democracy in the EU.

“Today, pursuant to a delegation of authority from the President, I am authorizing our seventeenth drawdown since August 2021 of up to $550 million in arms and equipment from U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) inventories for Ukraine’s self-defense,” announced Secretary of State Antony Blinken on the official website of the United State Government.
“Today’s announcement includes more ammunition for the High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS) and 155mm artillery systems that Ukraine’s forces are using so effectively on the battlefield to defend their country. This drawdown will bring total U.S. military assistance to Ukraine to approximately $8.7 billion since the beginning of this Administration,” he added.

Volodymyr Zelensky thanked Mr. Biden for his strong support for Ukraine and understanding of the threat that Russia poses to the civilized world.
“Together, we stand to protect the values of freedom common to Ukraine and the United States,” Zelensky posted on his Twitter account on August 1.
Ukraine’s President also emphasized that the new package of defense aid from the U.S. brings Ukraine closer to victory.
