Kyiv’s on-going counter-offensive if set to yield success, according to Vadym Skibitsky of Ukraine’s Main Directorate of Intelligence (HUR).

In a recent Civilmedia interview, Skibitsky underlined that while the current situation on the battlefield remains challenging, the initiative is firmly held by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).

“Progress is proceeding as planned. We are adaptable to changes on the battlefield and making necessary adjustments,” he said.

“Ukrainian military intelligence is exposing the intentions of the enemy, and our defense forces are effectively foiling them. We analyze and strike where Russian occupiers face significant losses.”

The intelligence officer elaborated that the pace at which Ukrainian troops are advancing along the front line is influenced, in part, by extensive mine barriers and fortifications installed by Russian forces in temporarily occupied territories. Russian troops have entrenched themselves deeply within these areas.

Skibitsky emphasized: “For those who perceive Ukraine's offensive as being too slow, it's important to remember that war is not a sports competition.”

He further stressed that the dynamics of warfare are influenced by a multitude of factors, including the availability of resources required for successful execution of combat missions.

“We require ammunition, air defense equipment, demining tools, and high-precision long-range weaponry,” Skibitsky asserted.

Zelensky said he had met Burns on multiple occasions throughout the war, but their meetings had been undisclosed.

He added that the AFU’s actions on the battlefield are strategically aimed at incapacitating the enemy. This includes blocking supply routes, neutralizing weapons depots, prevailing in counter-artillery confrontations, and dismantling the enemy's reconnaissance and air defense capabilities.

“Our efforts span all dimensions of the conflict, and the collective successes achieved therein will culminate in the desired outcome. Thus, Ukraine's offensive is underway, and it is poised for success,” he affirmed.

Skibitsky also stressed how Ukraine's consistent objective remains the liberation of all territories from Russian forces, ensuring lasting peace, and providing security guarantees.
