Ukraine has successfully repatriated 22 Ukrainian servicemembers who were held in Russian captivity, it was announced on Monday, Aug. 7.
“These individuals are comprised of soldiers from the Armed Forces of Ukraine, including two officers, enlisted personnel, and non-commissioned officers,” Andriy Yermak, the head of the President’s Office, posted on his Telegram channel.

He added: “They participated in various battles on multiple fronts, with some of them being wounded.” He said the soldiers’ ages vary from 23 to 54 years.
Every freed soldier will undergo an extensive program involving physical and psychological rehabilitation, comprehensive reintegration, and essential medical treatment, all meticulously supervised by a team of expert medical professionals, according to Yermak.
He also thanked the Coordinating Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War and “our entire team for this work” of repatriating Ukrainian defenders.
