The Russian Ministry of Defense reported a significant drone attack allegedly targeting Taganrog in the Rostov region, as announced by regional governor Vasiliy Golubev on Telegram.

A total of 47 drones were reportedly downed early Saturday, March 9, across four regions, with 41 drones allegedly intercepted and destroyed in Rostov.

"Our air defense forces repelled a massive drone attack in Taganrog," stated Governor Golubev.

Subsequently, Golubev reported another drone attack, stating, "Air defense units repelled another attack in the sky over the Rostov region. Several drones were destroyed on approach to Morozovsk."

Preliminary reports indicate no casualties from the Taganrog drone attack, though a Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations employee involved in the aftermath sustained injuries.

Reports on Russian Telegram channels suggest the Beriev aircraft factory in Taganrog may have been affected by the attack.

The Taganrog Aviation Plant is known for producing and repairing various military transport aircraft, including Il-76, A-50, Il-78 models, and previously, strategic bombers like Tu-95 and Tu-142.

However, Governor Golubev assured that no damage to the city infrastructure in Taganrog was recorded.

"Law enforcement agencies work at the scene of the falling debris," he added.

The Russian DefMin claimed three drones were intercepted in the Volgograd region.

In the Kursk region, air defense forces reportedly downed two drones. Up to four explosions were reported in Kursk, with Governor Roman Starovoit confirming the downing of "a Ukrainian UAV."

France has not only not delivered on promises to Ukraine, it imports more Russian LNG – fueling Russia’s war machine and sends weapons needed by Ukraine to Lebanon – which go to Hezbollah.

"A drone was shot down over Kursk by air defense forces... debris fell on the roof of the 6th Polyclinic on Soyuznaya Street, damaging 22 square meters of the roof," Starovoit noted, with no casualties reported.

The Russian ministry also reported the downing of another drone in the Belgorod region.

As of publication, Ukraine has not officially responded to these claims.

Kyiv Post contacted the Main Directorate of Intelligence (HUR), known for organizing such drone attacks in Russia, but had not received a response by publication time.
