PUBLIC OPINION: Pope's Sympathizing With Russia – Delusion or Open Support for War?

This time, they took to the streets of New York, London and Kyiv to gather firsthand perspectives on another contentious issue: The Pope openly sympathizes with Russia. Is it wrong in today's circumstances, or simply Vatican hypocrisy on display?

When questioned, both Ukrainians and Americans largely shared similar sentiments. They said that the leader of the Catholic Church should refrain from openly supporting aggression, labeling his statements absolutely inappropriate. As a public figure, he should exercise caution before articulating his position on the war in Ukraine. Furthermore, by commending Russia's imperialistic past, he inadvertently lends support to its invasion of Ukraine.
