Late on July 9, Russian troops fired with Iskander missiles at the residential building. The city of Chasiv Yar is 35 kilometers from where main hostilities are taking place.
Despite the threat of new strikes, rescuers are fighting to save lives at the scene. The total number of victims who may remain under the rubble is currently unknown.
Colonel Vyacheslav Boytsov of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Donetsk region, provided this update: “There was shelling here yesterday at approximately 9:17 p.m. Four rockets were estimated to have hit. According to preliminary expert estimates, these were Iskander missiles. The house hit by the Russian invaders was a civilian dormitory with no military facilities nearby. [Rescue efforts] involved about 60 people, two forklifts and two mobile cranes. The number of people who may still remain under the rubble is currently unknown.”
President Zelensky commented on the strike on his Facebook page:
“Anyone who gives orders for such strikes and carries them out in ordinary towns and residential areas, does so consciously and deliberately.”
What if Russia Wins?
The President added: “Punishment is inevitable for every Russian murderer. All of them. The same as for the Nazis. And let them not expect that their state will protect them. Russia will be the first to abandon them when the political circumstances change,”
On July 11, Russian occupiers continued to shell the Donetsk region. The areas of Yakovlivka, Berestov, Pokrovske, Soledar, Belogorivka, Vershina, Novoluhanske, Kodema, Bakhmut and Vesela Dolyna settlements were under incessant fire.
