A huge fire engulfed a warehouse belonging to one of Russia’s biggest online retailers in St. Petersburg on Saturday, Reuters reported. The Ministry of Emergency Situations said that firefighters had succeeded in keeping it from spreading further.
Wildberries, Russia’s equivalent of Amazon, is the warehouse’s owner. Nobody was reported to have been hurt and all its staff had been evacuated, Wildberries said in a statement.
There was no immediate word on how the fire – which covered at least 70,000 square meters and was rated as a category five, the most serious – had started.
Since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, a spate of sabotage and suspicious fires have plagued Russia’s infrastructure facilities.
